'Duelyst' Release Date On Xbox One, PS4, Steam, Mobile: Stunning New Strategy Game Merges Pixels And Hand-Drawn Art

"Duelyst", a strategy game by Counterplay, is already available on PC and is soon to be available in Xbox One, PS4, mobile and Steam. The title initially appears to be a tactical strategy game that combines elements from "Final Fantasy Tactics" and "Hearthstone." What makes this different is how stunning the art really is. It is reported that the visuals are the result of a genius mixture of pixels and hand drawn art.

A report by Gamespot gives a closer look into this new tactical strategy game. The game involves summoning units and casting spells from cards which are drawn from a deck. Of course, just like other popular card games like "Hearthstone" or "Magic the Gathering," the player gets to collect a lot of cards and build or customize his deck according to his own wishes.

While quite similar to more popular games, the game's twists still make it stand out, according to a review by Gamespot. The player would get to select from several factions and get into practice matches against AI or play online against other players. There is also a tournament mode wherein decks are built on the spot and three losses would eliminate a player. Tournament mode, however, is still under development and is not always available. Instead of card packs, the game makes use of orbs which if bought in game would give out cards of different rarities.

While its gameplay details might sound too familiar for anyone who has ever played any fantasy card game, the visuals of "Duelyst" really set it apart from the rest. Instead of static cards, the game makes use of opposing generals which are on different sides. Cards are then used to summon minions, which can be moved within a limited range to be strategically positioned to attack or engage the opposing player.

As of now, the only way to enjoy this awesome game would be through PC. There is yet no official date for its release in Steam and other consoles, but Counterplay has been testing the game in private. It is also reported that invitations to the test are being sent out, and one can sign up for such.
