There will be two free DLC updates for the Oct. 2 released Resident Evil 6, developer Capcom announced Wednesday.
The first DLC will be the "No Hope" mode, the toughest difficulty mode in the game. The second DLC will add a new co-op partner to the Ada Wong campaign.
"First and foremost, two free DLC items will arrive as a title update soon; No Hope difficulty mode (which is, y'know, super hard) and a co-op partner for Ada's campaign. Said campaign was meant as a solo affair for Ms Wong, but odds are you'd like to play through it again with a pal - soon you can!," said Capcom in its blog post.
The Ada Wong campaign can be unlocked right from the beginning of the game rather than the user requiring completion of the three campaigns - Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller - first.
A few pieces of on-disc DLC were discovered earlier this week by users which could only be unlocked through a DLC. It was lambasted by users.
Capcom was recently under heavy fire for including DLC on discs in Street Fighter X Tekken. After receiving backlash from fans, the company said it would reconsider future plans of DLCs on disc, Digital Spy reported.
Capcom clarified: "Some data of this update is on the disc, but said data is incomplete and requires the actual download to access. But again, free. Mercenaries costumes are residentevil.net unlocks. Simply register for the site and start earning RE points for those goodies."
So the two in-disc DLCs were in fact the free updates which Capcom had announced.
The additional modes for Resident Evil 6 multiplayer "Mercenaries" mode will be released sometime in the future as paid DLCs. A PC version of the game is yet to be released and Capcom has not specified any release date.
Resident Evil 6 is now available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation.
