'Rocket League' Latest News, Release Date, & Update: Rumble Mode Arriving This September

Psyonix's physics-based vehicular soccer video game "Rocket League" was first released in 2015 to mostly positive reviews, and even earned the PlayStation Universe's "Best Sports Game of E3" and Gaming Trend's "Best Multiplayer Game of E3" awards in during last year's event. This year, the popular game is getting a new "Rumble Mode" that amps up the excitement as players compete in the game.

Gamespot reports that during yesterday's "Rocket League" Championship in Hollywood, Psyonix announced "Rumble Mode" for "Rocket League," a new feature arriving this September. The udpate will be free, and has been described as an "epic battle royale," in which gamers can utilize radomized power-ups to defeat their opponents.

Such "Rocket League Rumble Mode" power-ups include "The Boot," which effectively kicks the opposing side's car, while another is "Disruptor," which makes a player's opponent drive uncontrollably--something that's interesting and would definitely be funny to watch.

"Freezer" will freeze the ball in place, while "Haymaker" enables the player to punch the ball. "Grappling Hook" will pull the gamer towards the ball, while "Magnetizer" attracts the ball to the player's car. "Plunger" lets the player grab the ball using a plunger and cord, whole "Tornado" enables players to sweep the ball up along with the opposing cars into a giant funnel cloud. Meanwhile, "Power Hitter" will let players hit everything with more force, while "Spike" will attach the ball to a player's car when the player bumps it. "Swapper" will enable the switching of sides on the field with one's opponent. For the full details on the upcoming "Rumble Mode" for "Rocket League," visit rocketleaguegame.com.
