Apple officially sent out invites for a special event scheduled for Oct. 23 that might see the launch of the iPad Mini. The event is set to take place at 10 a.m. PST.
The Cupertino-based technology giant sent invites to the press, analysts and others. A very colorful invite, it reads, "We've got a little more to show you," the Daily Mail reported.
The event will be held at the California Theatre in San Jose. Apple has held recent events at the Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The iPhone 5 and iPod's new line-up were unveiled at San Francisco.
Apple's smaller, cheaper version of its most popular tablet, the iPad, the iPad Mini, will be taking on rivals in this category like Amazon's Kindle Fire, Google's Nexus and Barnes & Noble's Nook. The current iPad has 9.7-inch display, while the iPad Mini will have a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display and a Lightning connector.
It was reported that the iPad Mini might cost $322 for the 8GB version, according to a screen shot of an inventory system used by Media Market that was accessed by Mobile Geeks.
The inventory lists the prices for the 8, 16, 32, and 64 GB models with Wi-Fi and then for separate versions of those models with cellular connections, totalling eight models.
Analysts expect, along with the iPad Mini, the smaller 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will also be unveiled during the event.
