Even with the hype of "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," fans didin't lose interest in "Kingdom Hearts 3." But with the limited update regarding the highly-anticipated game, many speculated that "Kingdom Hearts 3" may be facing a delay.
As it turns out, the reason behind the lack of announcements about "Kingdom Hearts 3" is because Square Enix wants to focus on "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" since it's going to premiere soon. So when fans hoped to learn more about "Kingdom Hearts 3" in E3 2016, they were left disappointed.
“We want to share as much as possible," "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" co-director Tai Yasue said. "We’re excited about Kingdom Hearts 3. But 2.8 we’re releasing globally at the beginning of December. We wanted to concentrate on that first. We want what’s best for the moment. We’re currently making 3 and 2.8 at the same time, but we wanted to concentrate on 2.8 right now.”

Even though Square Enix knows that the fans are eager to know more about "Kingdom Hearts 3," the developer remained tight-lip about it. The only time they mentioned "Kingdom Hearts 3" is when they explained that gamers should play "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" first before conquering "Kingdom Hearts 3."
The "Kingdom Hearts 3" co-director Tai Yasue explained that "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" is the key to understanding the storyline of "Kingdom Hearts 3."
If you will not know anything about Aqua's sorrow and torment in "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," you will not be able to attach yourself to the character when you finally get your hands on the much awaited "Kingdom Hearts 3."
The "Kingdom Hearts 3" E3 2016 trailer revealed that the game is still in development. The release of the much-awaited "Kingdom Hearts 3" has yet to be announced.
