Ubisoft Sues ‘The Black Eyed Peas’ for $1M

Popular American hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas are being sued by France-based video game publisher and developer Ubisoft for $1 million, reported Courthouse News.

Ubisoft accused the band of violating a contract agreement on an iOS version of a game - The Black Eyed Peas Experience.

"Since March 2012, and despite Ubisoft's repeated requests, BEP Music has breached the contract by failing and refusing to either approve or disapprove the IOS game in writing or otherwise," Courthouse News reported. "At the time of BEP Music's breach of contract, Ubisoft had spent 181,000 Euros (approximately $233,000) in developing the IOS game.

"Ubisoft has performed all of the obligations required of it under the contract, except as those obligations that have been excused by BEP Music's conduct or by operation of law."

The Black Eyed Peas Experience was released in November 2011 to Xbox 360 and Wii. The group has released hits like "Where Is the Love?," "I Gotta a Feeling," "Boom Boom Pow," "Rock That Body" and many more. The band was founded in 1995. Its members include will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie.

The Black Eyed Peas Experience is a music video game similar to the popular Wii title "Just Dance". Players have to mimic the choreography that is displayed on the screen and will earn points based on their performance. The game offers 30 of the band's chart-topping hit numbers.

Metacritic.com gave it a rating of 66 out of 100.

As of Oct. 6, the game sold 0.45 million units worldwide, VGChartz reported.
