Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 will be getting new character classes. This will follow the Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty DLC and the introduction of the fifth character class in the Gaige the Mechromancer DLC.
Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software revealed the news in a Tweet when asked if the game will get additional character classes via DLC.
"Yes, we're working on it," he said.
The news is a revelation, considering Gearbox previously said that additional classes might be rolled out based on Borderland 2's Mechromancer DLC's performance. Pitchford's direct confirmation to Borderland 2 game fans means more character class DLC packs are on the way. Initially, the game had four characters but a fifth was added with a DLC.
There is also three more single-player campaign DLCs planned for the game. Last week, the second campaign DLC, "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage" was revealed via achievements on the PlayStation Network.
"Apparently Gaige the Mechromancer performed well enough that Gearbox Software now officially has plans in the works for additional class DLC releases," Examiner reported.
The game was published by 2K Games. It was released Sept. 18. The game was built in Unreal Engine 3. The five characters in the game include Axton (Commando), Maya (Siren), Salvador (Gunzerker) and Zer0 (Assassin).
Game Informer gave the game 9.75 out of 10, even calling it "the most rewarding gaming experiences."
