'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Updates: French Mayor Bans Game In His Village, Calls It An 'Anarchical Settlement'

One mayor in France recently ordered the banning of "Pokemon Go" in his village, describing the hit mobile game as an "anarchical settlement." He has since commanded Niantic Labs to take out the virtual creatures from their location.

Fabrice Beauvois, mayor of Bressolles, stated that he already mailed a decree to Niantic, which is based in California. He also sent a messge to The Pokemon Company to prevent them from placing Pokemon in his village, which is located northeast of Lyon and has a population of 800.

According to the mayor, drivers and pedestrians are placed at risk when people look for Pokemon in their area, considering how "Pokemon Go" players tend to lack awareness about their surroundings when they keep staring at their mobile devices. "Pokemon Go" may also cause groups of people to gather at night.

According to the mayor, his order against "Pokemon Go" is directed against Niantic and The Pokemon Company only and not the gamers themselves. He mentioned that Bressolles is the first municipality in France to issue the order against "Pokemon Go."

Beauvois continued that when business owners wish to open a business in any French town, they are obliged to request for prior authorization from the mayor. The same rule should apply to people who intend to set up space or activity on a public property, in the same manner that Niantic is placing Pokemon in their location virtually in "Pokemon Go."

The French mayor acknowledges how "Pokemon Go" has become a worldwide phenomenon, spreading to various countries like a contagion. He warned that "Pokemon Go" could lead to a dangerous addiction among young individuals. His position as mayor is to guarantee the order and safety of citizens. Niantic actually use the whole planet as a playground, according to the mayor.

OC Register reported that Beauvois wishes to start a debate about the "Pokemon Go" issue. Although there are no untoward incidents related to "Pokemon Go" in Bressolles, he is issuing the decree as a preventive measure. He was particularly concerned that Pokemon have been spotted at the Bressolles war memorial. More updates and details on "Pokemon Go" are expected soon.
