'Destiny: The Taken King' Latest News, Release Date & Update: Exclusive PlayStation Content Won't Be Arriving to Xbox Anytime Soon

Fans of Bungie's "Destiny: The Taken King" who play the game on Xbox will have more reason to switch over to PlayStation, as the latter's exclusive content isn't heading to Xbox anytime soon. Typically, the PlayStation exclusives of "Destiny" make it to Xbox a year after its initial release, but this time, the publishers are making a change.

According to Polygon, next month's newest release "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will have its own exclusive PlayStation content, but will only be available on Xbox in Fall 2017 at the earliest. In addition, last year's "Destiny: The Taken King" will also remain as exclusive PlayStation content until that time. The reason? "Destiny" publisher Activision signed a marketing deal with Sony that lets the console brand get exclusive content in the form of expansions including powerful weapons, missions, quest lines, Crucible maps, unique armor and gear, and special vehicles.

"Destiny: The Taken King" featured several exclusive PlayStation content, including the Vex strike Echo Chamber, the exotic scout rifle called Jade Rabbit, new armor for every class, and a Crucible map named Sector 618. If you're a PlayStation gamer, you would be familiar with these features. Unfortunately for Xbox gamers, who were promised that the content would arrive to their consoles this Fall, it seems that they would have to wait for a longer time.

Gamerant reports that there are six exclusives from both "Destiny: The Taken King" and the "April Update" that won't be making it to Xbox until 2017. These are: Iron Camelot Iron Banner armor, Class armor sets the decode from Sublime Engrams, the Jade Rabbit exotic scout rifle, Echo Chamber strike, Sector 618 Crucible Map, and the Zen Meteor exotic sniper rifle.

Check back for more updates on "Destiny: The Taken King" and the highly anticipated "Destiny: Rise of Iron," which arrives on September 20.
