GameFly Offers BioShock PC version For Free Download

GameFly has launched a new desktop client for Microsoft Windows and Mac, adding to the online digital gaming portals. Along with the launch of the client, GameFly is offering the original BioShock for free, the company announced Nov. 8.

"Now there's a whole new way to rent and buy console + PC games! The GameFly Client brings together over 1,500 PC & Mac titles - available to pre-order, buy, and download - with 8,000 console & handheld titles available to rent. Plus, members can play hundreds of downloadable titles from our library at no extra charge with Unlimited PC Play," said GameFly in its website.

"We used the positive and constructive feedback from our community during the beta to help make the best product possible," said GameFly co-founder Sean Spector, Cinemablend reported. "To celebrate the launch of the client, we're excited to partner with 2K Games to give away their highly acclaimed PC game BioShock for free."

The new GameFly Client lets users view gaming-related news, videos and screenshots, manage GameQ, and keep in touch with friends who use GameFly.

Hundreds of older titles have been made available through Unlimited PC Play with on-demand features at no extra cost.

"This promotion doesn't have a solid end date, but GameFly does clarify that it can only give away so many copies. Therefore, it's probably a good idea to download yours sooner rather than later, otherwise you might miss out. You'll have to sign up for a GameFly account to get your copy, but as far as we can tell, the sign up process is free and doesn't require that you sign up for any monthly plans," SlashGear reported.

2K Boston's BioShock was released Aug. 21, 2007. The game costs $20 on Steam.

GameFly is offering BioShock only for residents of the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The newest BioShock game in the block, BioShock Infinite, is up for release February 2013.
