Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air Latest News & Update: Laptop Arriving in US? Apple MacBook Pro 2016 Challenged

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, unveiled its first laptop, Mi Notebook Air in July in China. If rumors are to be believed, it will be one of the first Xiaomi products to be launched in the US market.

In the past, Xiaomi had consistently maintained that it won't launch any of its products in US. If the company at all launches its Mi Notebook Air in US, it will compete head-to-head with Apple's 2016 Macbook Pro.

The Mi Notebook Air is currently priced at $627 and boasts of some premium specifications that are reportedly quite similar to Apple's premium Macbook Pro. According to The Bitbag, Xiaomi's VP, Hugo Barra, told Bloomberg that the company is planning to enter the US market.

The 2016 Macbook Pro release may happen somewhere in October or November after September's iPhone event. It is very likely that Xiaomi with its high-end Mi Notebook Air models will be challenging Apple's strong-hand in the laptop market.

It will be interesting to see if the Mi Notebook can live up to the hype. Challenging a competitor like Apple is no easy job.

The Mi Notebook Air comes in two models, 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch, with unique designs. Chinese online retailer GearBest is expected to ship the 12.5-inch device all over the world. It has a very slim design, just 14.88mm, and weighs 1.28kg.

The Mi Notebook Air is packed with a 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD and a 5,000mAh battery that supports fast-charging. The laptop contains all the standard connectivity options such as 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI, USB-type C-Ports and Bluetooth 4.1.

A drawback of the model is that it comes with only a 1MP camera. Another possible turn-off could be its Chinese characters. The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air reportedly comes with Windows 10 Home Chinese version and an inactive Windows 10 Home English version.

Certain characters may still be available in Chinese even after users change the language in the Settings menu, writes iTech Post. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more news and updates about Mi Notebook Air and MacBook Air 2016!
