'Pokemon Go' Tips & Tricks, News & Update: New App Lets You Make Actual Friends While Playing The Game

A "Pokemon Go" app is about to arrive, which aims to bring players together in the real world. The new mobile app, called Poke Trainer, aims to initiate friendships and more among "Pokemon Go" players.

Jeffrey Shafer from Florida came up with the creative idea for Poke Trainer. Shafer is a marketing and PR entrepreneur based in Fort Myers, Florida. He is a communication graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University. He shared that he first came up with the thought of a friendship app after successfully introducing two of his friends who were both "Pokemon Go" players.

Shafer started a Facebook page that fully detailed his app plans to determine if Poke Trainer would actually be a hit among "Pokemon Go" trainers. Even without providing the UI design, actual content and website, the post garnered over 1,000 likes in three days, prompting him to work on the "Pokemon Go" app.

The Poke Trainer creator explained that it is primarily a friendship app. It was developed so that players will always find someone with the same skill level and interest, regardless of how often or infrequent they play "Pokemon Go." Poke Trainer is location-based that will link "Pokemon Go" players according to level of experience, team, and their preferred manner of hunting Pokemon. Health information will also be given to each "Pokemon Go" player.

Forbes revealed that there is actually a similar app called PokeDates, which focuses on starting romantic relationships among "Pokemon Go" players. The app launched in July 2016 and aims to introduce single players to each other. Poke Trainer, on the other hand, aims to initiate a platonic relationship between trainers.

Street Insider stated that Poke Trainer for "Pokemon Go" is currently available for iOS in the Apple Store, with over 2,000 beta testers prepared for the initial launch. The app was described as a companion app for "Pokemon Go" that will aid players catch new friendships, teammates and relations they never thought possible. Players are encouraged to use Poke Trainer in pairs or groups, especially when going to unfamiliar places. More updates and details are expected soon.
