Google Nexus 2016 Latest News, Release Date & Update: Sailfish Will Break Some Sales Records Due For Its Affordable Price Tag?

The Google Nexus 2016 smartphone is rumored to be launched in October. As users wait patiently for the device to be launched, few reports have claimed that its specs will vary as per its variants. The latest update on the smartphone hinted at a mid-range price despite top features including VR compatibility and a Snapdragon processor.

Internal sources at HTC revealed that the two variants of Google Nexus 2016, codenamed Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish, may carry the price tags of $599 and $449. Reports claim that the prices are for the 32GB storage variant, which means the 64GB variant will have a different price.

The 64GB storage option looks strong even for the Nexus Sailfish, a Google Nexus 2016 variant, this time around, wrote Nexus Blog. The sources believe Nexus Sailfish's price tag of $449 will break some sales record and may even overtake 2013 sales figures of LG manufactured Nexus 5.

Earlier rumors had suggested the Google Nexus 2016 variants would be priced at $500 and $300 respectively for Marlin and Sailfish. However, recent reports suggest otherwise. With respect to software specifications, the Google Nexus 2016 will run on upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. The new operating system may also support Google's Daydream VR platform.

Besides, the Marlin and the Sailfish, which are the latest Google Nexus 2016 variants, will have a glass and metal chassis. It will also be slimmer than the Google Nexus 5. Rumors suggest that Google will be including the Google Assistant feature into the redesigned Home button.

The Google Nexus 6, Marlin variant, is touted to have a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4GB RAM. The Google Nexus Sailfish variant will have the same RAM power but may sport a 5.2-inch display, writes Mobile & Apps.

Tech enthusiasts are however more excited about what Android 7.1 Nougat has to offer than the launch of the Google Nexus 2016 devices. This may be because Nexus has been criticized by tech savvies for lack of innovation and for its mismatch with Android Beta Programs.
