'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' Latest News & Updates: Why Konami Is No Longer Finishing Mission 51

It has been recently confirmed that Konami cut off one of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's" most vital plot points, Mission 51. Konami has been absolute and categorical in declaring that it has no plans at all to finish this specific mission.

Kotaku reports that last year, footage had been released of a deleted mission. This was composed of half-finished cut scenes, concept art and narration, which appeared in the Collector's Edition. While the full end product has been scrapped, such footage does give some closure to some of the game's major characters, as demanded by fans.

Konami says that a "definitive" edition of the popular game will be released and is set to include the preamble Ground Zeroes and the main story The Phantom Pain. Players, however, do not appear satisfied with the game's ending and have given out theories as to the scrapping of Mission 51. It also appears that these die-hard Metal Gear fans will not rest until Konami serves them with the ending that they deserve, reports Time.

For the meantime, an official twitter account of Metal Gear Solid has been very accommodating on Twitter for fans who vented out their frustration on the social media site. One user tweets them with "How is it definitive if the ending is still missing?" The account replied "The ending isn't and has never been missing, but this is a prequel game to Metal Gear." When asked about Mission 51 saying otherwise, the account said it's an additional story content that was cancelled before development finished, but is definitely not the ending.

Another user asks the account where the ending is, as Konami has left open a lot of plotlines, in which the players do not see the resolution. The official account replies that the ending is found in the missions within and that many threads continue in Metal Gear and subsequent games.

Last year, Hideo Kojima weighed in when he tweeted "Good speculation of MGSV TPP by 2 Japanese best-seller Novelists" then he linked their conversations. Essentially, they said that players are just in denial that Metal Gear Solid is over and that they are not actually left up in the air.
