‘Mafia III’ Game Latest News & Update: How the Game Tackles Racism

"Mafia III" becomes one of the most anticipated games this year, not only because of its interesting open world battle, but also for its subtle nudge on the topic of racism. "Mafia III" features Lincoln Clay, a bi-racial Vietnam veteran who returned home only to find out, his family was murdered.

Set in the fictional place of New Bordeaux, Lincoln Clay sets out to seek revenge; at the same time, battling the issue of racism in the place. "Mafia III" players will experience the life of Lincoln Clay, even the undying threat of bullying and racism.

"Mafia III" shoots players in the open world, trying to live like one of the gangsters, but at the same time, remain sane in order to get to the purpose of seeking revenge. The topic of racism is strong in New Orleans in the 1960's. New Bordeaux, the fictional location in "Mafia III" is the counterpart of New Orleans.

As Lincoln Clay tries to ignore the threat of being killed, his race cannot hide the very identity that makes him prone to the prying eyes of gangsters and ordinary people. Lead writer Bill Harms explains, it will be a "disservice" to everyone if they did not touch the topic of racism. He also added that the game is a crime related story, one way or the other, racism will be an issue and criminals will be there to do their thing.

When "Mafia III" releases on October, prepare to play the part of Lincoln Clay, to be in the middle of a war, stricken by gangs, racists and murderers. Players, get ready to seek revenge and play like you're the real Lincoln, trying to stay alive in the middle of a gang torn place.
