‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ Release Date, News & Update: Japan Skips Xbox One Version? Square Enix Omits Game from Tokyo Game Show 2016?
"Kingdom Hearts 3" will reportedly be released only for the PS4 version and in limited territories in Xbox One version. The game may have been removed from the Japanese product page. It is highly possible that Xbox One owners in Japan may have to drop their dreams of getting their hands on the high-awaited RPG.
Avid fans of "Kingdom Hearts 3" spotted an error message that led to the rumors. Moreover, the continued absence of the game in the listing has also led many to believe that the game may have been dropped. Microsoft's Xbox versions have not been able to make money in Japan. This can be a reason for the game being dropped from its kitty.
However, "Kingdom Hearts 3" is still being listed as an Xbox One game on the Microsoft store and the game's Japan website. The Xbox One page for the game is still active in North America and in other territories as well. Hence, the error message could be because of a glitch or because of an exclusivity agreement.
A timed agreement like Microsoft's ties to "Rise of The Tomb Raider" may be in order, writes iTech Post. "Kingdom Hearts 3" is set for a massive official showcase this winter and is slated for a release some time in 2017.
Apparently the listing of "Kingdom Hearts 3" was live on Japan's Xbox page, but now it's showing an error message. Nintendo and Sony still dominate the consoles-market in Japan with PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS overtaking Xbox One in Japan by leaps and bounds. Even Wii U is more popular in Japan than Microsoft's console.
KH Insider tweeted on Aug. 30 that Xbox Japan's "Kingdom Hearts 3" page was no longer listed. It came to know about this from a tweet by a Japanese user. Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show 2016 lineup does not include "Kingdom Hearts 3." Hence, fans may not expect any official announcement regarding cancellation rumors in Japan.
