Although consumers are divided, it is not stopping Apple from releasing a new generation of Apple Watch. A release date for the Apple Watch 2 is set on the latter half of 2016, this information is said to be leaked by the Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, as reported by Mirror. This sounds like a good marketing plan, just in time for the holiday season.
The Apple Watch 2 is expected to bring just a bit more features and give a better user experience than its predecessor as an upgrade like more sensors, better waterproofing technology and maybe a FaceTime camera. The main upgrades we should watch out for the new Apple Watch 2 are its longer battery life and a much faster 16NM TSMc processor. The Apple Watch 2 will also carry a barometer to be used for measuring atmospheric pressure and other useful sensors and a GPS chip.
There are also rumors that the Apple Watch 2 will have a new screen technology enabling a longer battery life. Apple is also set to switch to Micro-LED display for the next generation of its smart watch according to a report by DigiTimes. Although Apple Watch 2 is previously rumored to carry 4G LTE connectivity, the Apple Watch 2 or Apple might not be ready for this upgrade until 2017 as stated by Kuo.
The Apple Watch 2 will not be getting any changes in design. It is expected to look very similar to its predecessor. With regards to the pricing for the new smart watch from Apple, it might cost as much as the first generation Apple Watch when it first came out at $349.
