'Forza Horizon 3' Latest News & Updates: Iconic Warthog Now Drivable; See Full Performance Details, New Announcements

Recent "Forza Horizon 3" updates revealed that the classic Warthog in "Halo" will become available soon. "Forza Horizon 3" is currently in development, Playground and 343 Industries shared some details on how the collaboration started, as well as the details of the upcoming racing game.

According to 343 Industries, the performance stats of the Warthog CST in "Forza Horizon 3" will be enhanced. The vehicle will be faster and lighter compared to its combative counterpart. The Warthog CST in "Forza Horizon 3" will feature a 2-seater AWD Twin Turbo 8L V8 front-engine with 720bhp at 6500rpm and 855ft/lbs at 3200rpm of torque. The vehicle has a top speed of 119, albeit limited by gearing.

GameSpot stated that the Warthog in "Forza Horizon 3" can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 100mph in 9.81 seconds. It can also travel one-fourth mile in 12.4 seconds at 109.4mph. Since "Forza Horizon 3" will be set in Australia, 343 Industries mentioned that the Warthog will be ideal for the rough and tumble landscape of the place. The vehicle is about 25% smaller and about 33 percent lighter than the FAV.

The M12S steers clear of the wide 4-wheel steering of the FAV, thereby exchanging maneuverability at low speeds for better handling and performance at high speeds. The M12S in "Forza Horizon 3" features the most advanced suspension with a total travel of 70cm and high damping values.

According to "Forza Horizon 3" developer Chris Phillips, the approach in adding Warthog in the racing game was quite different compared to the process of introducing a normal car. He explained that they would normally replicate existing cars by researching these thoroughly so that the game version would be very accurate. The Warthog had to be made based on how they determined it would function in a daily Earth environment.

343 Industries writer Jeff Easterling stated in a "Forza Horizon 3" blog post that they also had to consider the potential response of "Halo" fans to the vehicle. They thought of Master Chief traveling through the Australian Outback to give it more detail. "Forza Horizon 3" will launch on Sept. 27, 2016.
