'NBA 2K17' Latest News, Release Date & Update: 2K Sports Recorded Every Arena For Realistic Game Audio [VIDEO]

2K Sports' "NBA 2K" series has always been known, since the last generation of games, to be one of the most realistic sports sims in the world. Developer Visual Concepts' attention to detail has been one of the most unmatched in the industry, leading to an authentic experience. "NBA 2K17" is going to take it a step further by not only looking and feeling like the real thing, but also sounding like the real thing as well.

A game's sound design may not be the first thing players will notice about it, but Visual Concepts and 2K Sports outdid themselves with the audio for the upcoming "NBA 2K17." According to Polygon, the sound team for "NBA 2K17" traveled more than 16,000 miles to all the NBA arenas across the United States just to record over 200 hours of game audio. That's audio of the actual basketball games, not audio of "NBA 2K17."

Although only the most scrutinizing audiophiles will most likely be able to tell the difference, Visual Concepts managed to record a lot of individual sounds that are exclusive to each NBA arena. From the littlest things to how the ball bouncing on the hardwood sounds in each stadium. To the more noticeable exclusive touches like the sound of the buzzer, the songs arena musicians play for certain occasions, and the announcers for each team, "NBA 2K17" has it all. Quite frankly, even though you'll likely not be able to tell the difference, much less focus on these things while playing an actual basketball game, it's amazing.

"NBA 2K17" is coming out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC in two weeks on September 20. Xbox One S owners can also enjoy the game in HDR color, provided that they have an HDR-compatible TV.
