NBA Latest Trade Rumors, News & Update: Blake Griffin Staying, Ray Allen Joining?

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is aware of the murmurs involving his team this offseason, particularly that part involving Blake Griffin. Following a controversial season which saw Griffin sit out most of the second half due to injuries, the belief was that the Clippers have had enough of the slam-dunking forward. There were crazy rumors linking the burly forward, including a potential jump to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With Kevin Durant moving to the Golden State Warriors, Griffin could have perfectly partnered with Russell Westbrook for head coach Billy Donovan. While that was plausible, it was nothing more than wishful thinking.

Clipper for life?

Regardless, Rivers knew that Griffin was staying put, to begin with. In fact, the word out is that Griffin will be re-signing before next season. He and Chris Paul lead the list of top free agents in 2017 NBA free agency and are likely to get a lot of suitors.

Rivers believes that Griffin will start and end his career as a Clipper. This is despite criticism that the Clips may have been investing on a player that has failed to deliver. The Clippers have been advancing to the post-season wars but have yet to make the NBA Finals.

Ray Allen reunion?

Ray Allen had been previously rumored as returning early in the Summer, possibly hooking up with two former teams – the Milwaukee Bucks or the Boston Celtics. According to Masslive.com, Allen wanted to join a team having young talent and a club where he could help out.

But looking at the rosters of the two teams, they seem to have a cramped roster. So what if Allen lowers his expectations and reunites with his former coach?

Rivers and Allen talked earlier in the Summer and the former believes that the yet-to-retire all-star can still play. While nothing close to a deal has been mentioned, it may be one plausible scenario that could reunite Rivers, Allen and possibly Paul Pierce.

One More Pierce?

Pierce is still undecided for the coming season although a Ray Allen signing could entice him to play at least one more time. Stay tuned to Game & Guide for more NBA news!
