NVIDIA GTX 1050 Latest News & Update: Leaked Specs Reveal Fierce Competition with AMD RX 470; Card Operates Without External Power Cable

NVIDIA GTX 1050 specs have allegedly leaked and even though the graphics card is expected to compete in the entry-level, mid-range bracket, its specs are pretty awesome. In terms of price and availability, not much is known yet although the price is expected to be around $150. If that is true, then the NVIDIA GTX 1050 would compete directly with AMD RX 470.

As per the GPUz screenshot from Benchlife that WCCF Tech made available, the NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics core is based on the same 16nm FinFET transistor design found in the high-end Pascal cards. It will feature 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM that can offer a bandwidth of up to 112.1 GB per second.

Consumers have long been expecting NVIDIA to launch a few cards beyond the currently available 1080, 1070, 1060 and Titan X. AMD is already offering Radeon RX 460 in the $99 range. However, budget PC owners are still waiting for NVIDIA to launch its GTX 1050.

Even though the GTX 1060 3GB model was expected to be the lowest-tiered graphics card, releasing GTX 1050 may change the deal. The GTX 1050 core has 768 CUDA cores. They operate at a base clock 1,316 MHz that can go up to 1,380 MHz when required.

Texture fill rate of 84.2 Gigatexels per second is a 60 percent improvement over last generation's GTX 950. NVIDIA GTX 1050's power draw is simply remarkable despite operating at very high clock speeds of nearly 300 MHz or even higher at times. Its Thermal Design Power (TDP) is just 75 watts compared to last generation's 90 watts.

The super-reduced TDP means that the NVIDIA GTX 1050 can operate without an external power cable, writes Digital Trends. The GPU It is expected sometime in the middle of October. NVIDIA has faced pricing problems in the past with its GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. Supply problems led to prices being hiked up manifold. Thankfully the GTX 1060 launch was met well with stable prices, writes YIBADA.
