GameSpot revealed that according to Kojima, "Death Stranding" will release before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He stated that the game will be launched in the year before the year in which the upcoming film "Akira" is set. The upcoming "Akira" movie is actually set in 2018, which could mean that "Death Stranding" will become available in 2018. The game was first introduced in E3 2016, although Kojima refrained from sharing a lot of information about the concept and storyline.

"Death Stranding" has garnered a lot of excitement among fans, especially after news surfaced that it will be Kojima's most ambitious project yet. The series creator said that the online component of "Death Stranding" will be different compared to anything that gamers have encountered before. Furthermore, "Death Stranding" will allegedly include a female protagonist, who will co-star with Norman Reedus, who was previously revealed to be the main protagonist of the title. The actress who will play the role has yet to be introduced.

Kojima teased that "Death Stranding" will present a unique side of Norman Reedus, apart from his usual persona in "The Walking Dead." Kojima mentioned that the actor was not completely nude during body-capture sessions for the game. At present, not a lot of details about "Death Stranding" is known, although there are rumors that it may involve alternate dimensions. Kojima previously stated that he plans "Death Stranding" to introduce the future of gaming.

According to character designer Yoji Shinkawa, there might be some form of mechs in "Death Stranding." The game may also run on a popular third-party engine, although Kojima did not identify it fully. According to Kojima, "Death Stranding" will be the best game he has ever made and promised that he will not make compromises in development. The game will launch for PlayStation 4 and PC with more updates and details coming soon.
