The almost forgotten iPad Mini 5 is not yet dead and many are in fact expecting a new variant to come out by the first quarter of 2017. This is despite previous speculations that Apple may be killing off the miniature tablet from the mix.

It was mentioned in a previous post that an iPad Mini 5 could make a surprise debut with the iPhone 7 last Sept. 7. Obviously, there was no tablet that debuted though the focus has now shifted on the integration of iPhone 7 changes to the next tablet offering.

Among the notable iterations that could possibly come with the iPad Mini 5 include the removal of the 3.5 mm jack and use a Lightning port instead. From that alone, a thinner iPad Mini 5 could be in the works, the same route that the iPhone 7 has shown and possibly the MacBook Pro 2016 in the Fall.

AirPods in focus yet again

Aside from that, there is also that angle that associates the newly revealed AirPods in the mix for use with the iPad Mini 5. Many believe that the iPhone 7 render is a sign of things to come and may affect upcoming products such as the MacBook Pro 2016 and the iPad Pro.

Possible iPad Mini 5 features

Moving forward, there are of course more to expect from the iPad Mini 5. It is likely to sport a more powerful processor (A9 chip at the least), 2 GB of RAM, at least 32 GB of storage, an 8 MP main camera and a front-facing 1.2 MP camera.

For the screen display, the belief is that it will have a 7.9-inch display and bank on a 5124 mAh Li-Ion battery similar to the one used by the iPad Mini 4. Pricing of the iPad Mini 5 remains unknown though it is likely to be a fair jump from the iPad Mini 4 prices. Until Apple comes out with an official statements, its actual retail price remains a mystery.
