A recent patent application by Microsoft has confirmed that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 is very much in the works. The company is looking to break into the smartphone market with the device. Its Lumia phones were not able to wow people but the Surface Phone is expected to be different.

Microsoft is widening its roster of products with the Microsoft Surface line. The devices have so far been successful and this has raised hopes for many that the Microsfot Surface Phone will be able to compete with the high-end phones in market today; fans should watch out for the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016.

As per The Country Caller, Microsoft has filed a patent for a fingerprint scanner for its upcoming devices. The Redmond-based tech giant may announce the Microsoft Surface Phone officially before the end of this year. The application of patent for the fingerprint scanner is being taken as solid evidence that it is for the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016.

Reports suggest that the design of the fingerprint scanner is unique and the same would be incorporated into a transparent sheet. Even though the Windows Phone was not bad it failed to make a mark. Hence, tech experts believe, this time Microsoft won't leave any stone unturned and provide only the best of specs for Microsoft Surface Phone 2016.

Moreover, other reports have revealed that Microsoft would be releasing the Surface Phone in three variants to capture a larger segment of buyers, writes iTech Post. As Vine Report writes, the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 may be announced in October and released in 2017.

The fingerprint scanner will provide added security to users as the phones will unlock only when they identify the fingerprints on the display. The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will reportedly have an AMOLED display pane and a sleeker chassis. The highly-anticipated Intel Kaby Lake processor may also be incorporated into the device.
