Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, News & Update: Premium Specs Justifies Price Points?

Google Nexus 2016 devices dubbed as Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish specs and price points have been in the rumor mill for quite sometime now. This time, a new tipster Nathan Benis gave some additional details about the upcoming devices' release.

Benis revealed that the Marlin device leak is based on N Maintenance Release 1, NMR1. He continued to explain that since Google announced that it is doing a quarterly maintenance releases, he believes that the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 devices will be launched alongside MR1 around the same time they were released last year.

The upcoming Google Nexus 2016 phones, produced by HTC and certified by U.S. FCC were also confirmed by Android Police's David Ruddock. However, Benis elaborated that the current Android N version being pushed to Nexus devices is based on Developer Preview 5 which does not have any of the features that he and Ruddock have been leaking. He added that the public should expect a developer preview of MR1 with the changes he discovered soon.

Moreover, rumors about the specs Google Nexus 2016 devices have been circulating online for the past months. Aside from the rumor that Google Nexus 2016 devices would be integrated with Android 7.0 Nougat, it is said that both devices will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chip and 4GB of RAM as well, reports BGR.

It was also revealed that Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish will sport identical specs and features for their screen size. Reports claimed that Google Nexus 2016 devices price points are way high from the $350 and $500, respectively. However, the price tag is reportedly justified by its high-end specs. Some rumors also relayed that the devices would be running with Andromeda, according to PC Advisor.

Google Nexus 2016 devices are also expected to carry 32GB of internal storage for its base models which may justify its high price. More of its impressive specs include a 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, a 3,450 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port.
