The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Not The Last Game In The Series, Says Developer

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt won't be the last game in The Witcher series after all, according to developer CD Projeckt RED.

The clarification comes a day after the developer sent a press release definitively announcing that the newly-revealed sequel would be the last Witcher game: "People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game," studio chief Adam Badowski said in the release. "Yes, it is."

Today, however, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski explained to Eurogamer that Badowski's statement gave everyone the wrong idea: "This is the last part of the trilogy, in which there will be a great finale of the story. However, this doesn't mean the end of franchise." Kicinski actually went as far as saying the "franchise will be continued."

There you have it folks; The Witcher 4 is going to happen... It might not be until 2020, but the franchise is apparently not over.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt was announced yesterday on the cover of the March 2013 issue of Game Informer, followed by a press release and teaser trailer from CD Projekt RED. Though very little concrete information about the game was revealed, CD Projekt RED has said that the game will feature an open world 30 times larger than that in The Witcher 2.

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is expected to launch in 2014 on "all high-end platforms."
