Google Release Date, News & Update: Everything We Know So Far Of WiFi Routers, Home Assistant, Chromecast Ultra
Google is set on developing and selling their own brand of WiFi routers dubbed "Google WiFi". The router is rumored to cost $129 with a rumored release date of Oct.4 at the previously announced Google Event. Google is also believed to unveil Google Home and the new Chromecast device with 4K streaming capacity along with its Pixel phones on the said event.
The Google WiFi router is said to work like the Euro router since more than one device may be used inside the house. Specialized software on the routers will enable them to work together to bring the best possible WiFi connection in the home. The device is also believed to connect to other Google WiFi routers via Bluetooth to save on electricity. This eliminates the need for unstable extenders and the like.
Aside from the router, Google is also slated to reveal the new Google Home voice-activated assistant for the home. The device is said to be similar to Amazon's Echo device.
Google Home is rumored to cost $130 which is cheaper than Amazon Echo but still twice expensive than the $50 Echo Dot, Engadget reported. Additionally, the Chromecast Ultra is also rumored to launch with the aforementioned gadgets which will feature 4K media streaming at home to go with 4K TVs, monitors and high-speed internet connections.
Meanwhile, Android and Chrome OS are reportedly getting a major overhaul. Google is said to have a new laptop in the works that may bear the "Pixel" brand name. The upcoming device codenamed Bison or Pixel 3 is said to run on a new OS that will merge the Android and Chrome OS. The hybrid OS has been dubbed Andromeda.
Google Andromeda is rumored to be folded into Android in 2017. Previously, Google had made the attempt to fold Chrome OS into Android. Google engineers are reportedly set on combining the two systems since three years ago to unveil a single, unified OS by next year. The upcoming Pixel 3 is also said to showcase Google Andromeda in a laptop form to rival Windows PCs and MAC OS machines. The device is rumored to arrive by third quarter of 2017. Additionally, a Nexus 7-inch Huawei tablet is also said to roll out with the Andromeda by the end of 2016, 9to5Google reported.
