The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Gets a New Trailer

On the heels of its DLC announcement, Activision has released a new trailer for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. The graphics are, well, a little lacking to be quite frank, but there seems to be some potential. Narrated by Michael Rooker and Norman Reedus, the trailer gives us a peek at what the Dixon brothers endured before the events of "The Walking Dead" television show.

Check it out below!

Not exactly blown away? I know, I felt it too. It's unfortunate that after the lame duck, fan built trailer was so poorly received, you'd think Activision would know exactly what not to do. I hate the idea of lambasting a game based purely on graphics, but sometimes you gotta call it like you see it.

Except for the setting and celebrity voices, it's hard to tell what will (if anything) set this game apart from Dead Island. Both games' combat are based heavily on melee combat, with room to spare for the occasional firearm. The idea of resource management is said to figure in heavily in Survival Instinct, but not a whole lot of details have been made available in that regard. It'll be interesting to see if the game will continue in the storyline featured in the show, or if it will just end where the show began. None of the other cast has been mentioned as voicing their respective characters, so at the moment, it looks to be the latter. If I was a betting man, I'd keep my money with Telltale Games' version.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will launch on Mar. 29 on Wii U, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
