Skyrim DLC Dragonborn Out On PlayStation 3 Today

After years of waiting, today's the day, folks. Skyrim's most recent DLC Dragonborn, will be the first to finally make the jump to PS3 later today.

Bethesda announced a release schedule for the Skyrim DLC catalog on PSN, more than a year after the game's release. earlier this month. Starting today, a new piece of Skyrim DLC will launch on PS3 every tuesday. Home-making add-on kit Hearthfire will launch on February 19th, followed by Dawnguard on February 26th. As promised, all Skyrim DLC will be available for 50 percent off on PSN, $9.99, until February 19.

According to the official synopsis from Bethesda, Dragonborn takes players "to the island of Solstheim. Encounter new towns, dungeons, and quests, as you traverse the ash wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. Become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons. Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary - the first Dragonborn."

Dragonborn was well reviewed when it first debuted on Xbox 360. Eurogamer said of it, "With discoveries around every corner, Dragonborn just gave Skyrim fans the perfect excuse to lose themselves in the wild for another winter." Similarly, VentureBeat called the add-on a pint-sized Morrowind and says, "Dragonborn is a creepy descent into madness set in a mini Morrowind that isn't quite as epic as Dawnguard, but it compensates for that with a wealth of new items, shouts, and spells."

Technically, Dragonborn comes out only one week behind schedule. The PC version of Dragonborn was released on Febuary 5th. The Xbox 360 version, a timed exclusive, launched December 4th. The other two DLC packs, on the other hand, are quite late: Dawnguard, the first piece of Skyrim DLC was released on PC August 2nd. Hearthfire was released on PC October 5th.
