‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Latest News & Update: Prequel Instead Of A Sequel? New Game Title, Release Date & More

"Red Dead Redemption 2" has been quite mysterious and has been the subject of speculations for quite some time already. Those who have been anticipating the game's release have been guessing when the new title will come out since there have been absolutely no announcements as to when it will be. Speculations point out that the game is expected to be released sometime in 2017, but there have been no leads yet as to whether the game will focus on multiplayer or single player features.

iTech Post reported that it is very likely that the game will be out in February of next year, since it is holding back its release to bring it alongside the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Scorpio. The very likely reason for this would be so that they could join in with the hype to make the marketing of the title more sustainable.

It is noteworthy that developer Rockstar had earlier stated that it is not in a hurry to release the game, it is very likely that it will be out in February of 2017 or sometime within the first quarter. If, however, the developers suddenly decide to move the 2017 release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" to a later date, then it might just be released in 2018 to allow more time for the creation of the sequel.

The BitBag reports that there is also that possibility of the sequel to feature a different title since Rockstar has plans to make "Red Dead Redeption" a franchise title. This could also be one of the reasons why the game took a while to be compatible with the Xbox One backwards compatibility list. Some rumoured titles for the upcoming game include "Red Dead 3" and "Legends of the West" instead of the expected "Red Dead Redemption 2."

While speculations have gone that far, none of these rumored titles or release dates have been confirmed by its own developer Rockstar. Some even rumors say that instead of a sequel, what might actually come out next might be a prequel that shows how events unfolded into "Red Dead Redemption."
