Retro City Rampage Coming to WiiWare February 28th, Getting Bonus Content

After three months on PC, PSN, and Xbox Live Retro City Rampage now will finally be coming to a Nintendo platform, albeit not the one you'd think. RCR will make its way to WiiWare February 28th, according to a press release.

The WiiWare version will include, "ROM City Rampage" an extra filter allowing players to experience the game with an 8-Bit NES aesthetic. "Experience what Retro City Rampage could've been like if it were actually released in the '80s, as a 100% NES hardware-accurate ROM." A retro Retro City Rampage? That's meta. Players can find the bonus content at the in-game arcade, alongside Virtual Meat Boy, and the Mortal Kombat "Test Your Might" styled Epic Meal Time Epic Might Test. Players who buy the game from Steam can also get access to the bonus game once the service updates. The PC version will also get the new content as a free download.

Wii U owners can still pick up the game via the system's Wii menu. Wii and Wii U owners alike will be able to grab the game on WiiWare for $10/1000 Points. If you do play it on Wii, you have the option of playing the game with several different controllers, including the Wii Remote (shake to pick up and throw enabled), Classic Controller, and a Gamecube Controller.

For PC players who haven't grabbed it yet, the Steam version is on sale this week for $7.50 until February 28th.

All in all, not bad for a game that started as a simple 8-bit take on Grand Theft Auto. The game is a true love letter to 80's pop-culture, containing a multitude of tongue in cheek references to just about every popular old-school game under the sun, and is deserving of a playthrough by anyone calling themselves a gamer.
