Apple is expected to release the iPad Mini 5 in 2017. Many techies thought that the fifth generation of the iPad Mini series would be announced during the company's September event but it did not happen. This means that people will have to wait until next year for a new iPad Mini update.

Though there is still no official word from Apple regarding the iPad Mini 5, many reports about the specifications of the upcoming device are already going around. It is said that the new iPad Mini will have improved design; an A Series 7000 aluminium might be used for its casing, which is lighter compared to other materials and more resilient to damages. The same material is used for the chassis of iPhone 6S, as per PC Advisor. Besides the reduction in its dimension, a new color variant might also be made available. A Rose Gold-colored iPad Mini 5 is expected to come out since the said color is now becoming more popular.

In terms of specifications, the upcoming iPad will most likely have the latest Apple operating system which is already being experienced by iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users. The iPad Mini 5 is expected to feature iOS 10 which would make it better than its predecessors when it comes to functionality. The next portable devices of Apple might also be water resistant just like its latest phone models. Speculations about the introduction of 3D Touch technology is also going around.

In terms of pricing, iPad Mini 5 might be launched with the same cost as iPad Mini 4 when it was first released. According to MacWorld, the price range might be around $400 to $433 depending on the storage size. Though not yet confirmed by the tech giant, the base price for iPad Mini 5 might be $400 for the 32 GB model.
