‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Updates: Gym Encounters Now Recorded In Pokedex

Niantic has been rolling out updates one after the other for “Pokemon Go” and it seems that the company has quietly added another one tied up to the Pokedex sightings. Pokedex does record existing wild Pokemon encounters but a new one may have just been added to cover gym encounters.

Such a feature would normally merit a lot of attention that “Pokemon Go” players need to be aware of. Considering, however, the many features that Niantic wants to be employed, this could be one meant as a meager update.

More Sightings on PokeDex

But when one thinks of how sightings in the Pokedex count for “Pokemon Go” players, this is seen as a big deal. With the quietly introduced new feature, any Pokemon seen at Gyms now count as a sighting which appends the previous things that could be spotted in the Pokedex.

Yay or Nay?

With the updated sighting feature, “Pokemon Go” gamers are lauding and disappointed. Some are happy considering it helps guide them in seeing certain Pokemon for the first time that cannot be caught. Then again, veteran players point out that this is a feature that was originally included in the Pokedex to record new critter sightings and trainer battles, Game Rant reported.

The change may not be a big deal for the veterans but certainly something new for the first-timers. It is considered a minor change with Niantic expected to roll out bigger updates that will most likely be included in “Pokemon Go” Gen 2.

Hence, it may be one reason why Niantic never overhyped the sightings update for “Pokemon Go” though the most important thing is that the feature has been added or updated. It could be useful for the ones looking for rare Pokemon, something that will hopefully emerge in the next update.

As mentioned in a previous post, one of the things to expect is the new breed of creatures appearing on “Pokemon Go”. Rares are at the top of the list while also possibly doing away with the recurring ones like Pidgey or Rattata.
