'Minecraft' Coming to PS3? Mojang Hints At Possibility

"Minecraft" is one of the biggest games on XBLA, as well as PC, and is one of the best selling games of all time. According to Minecraft's own site, over 9.5 million people have purchased the game, and that's just the PC version.

While the game is also available on various mobile devices, there's one limit to Mojang further expanding the "Minecraft" empire. Exclusivity deals. Mojang signed one with Microsoft, limiting "Minecraft" to just the Xbox 360. But when that deal runs out? Anything is possible.

Mojang has told iGamer that "Minecraft" could eventually release on PS3 once the deal is up.

According to "Minecraft's" current lead designer and developer, Jens Bergensten, a PS3 version of "Minecraft" could be a possibility. Bergensten said in the latest issue of iGamer, "Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we'll consider Minecraft for PS3."

"Minecraft" on PlayStation 3 would no doubt be a great thing for Sony, but what about Nintendo? The future doesn't look as bright. Bergensten told iGamer a version for the Wii U "is very unlikely."

Bergensten didn't say exactly when Microsoft's exclusivity deal with Mojang comes to an end, but once it does, expect the Sony fans to start pleading.
