Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, News & Updates: February Release Confirmed? Flagship Smartphone to Come Out in Two Variants

Following Samsung's decision to stop the production and release of its recent phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, the company is said to start focusing on the upcoming development of its new Samsung Galaxy S8.

When its predecessor was released earlier this year, it was well received by tech fans who considered the flagship smartphone a value for their money. There are reports suggesting that Samsung will release the new Galaxy S8 early next year with impressive specs and features.

Although the company has yet to provide the official details of its development and release date, speculations are starting to circulate all over the Internet that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched during a company event, which is scheduled a day before the MWC 2017 or Mobile World Congress 2017.

If rumors prove to be true, fans will certainly get their hands on the highly anticipated device sooner than expected. Apparently, Samsung's goal is to release the flagship smartphone before the usual release date of the series, which happens between March and April, to redeem itself from the disappointment of the current Galaxy Note 7.

According to CNET, the new Samsung Galaxy S8 will most likely arrive in two variants, which differ in screen size and display technology. The publication said that one of the devices will come with a 5.1-inch screen that features 2K AMOLED display. On the other hand, the high-end model will most likely come out with 5.5-inch display and supports 4K technology. Although Samsung has yet to confirm these reports, the smartphone's new rumored features will certainly compete well with Apple's much-awaited iPhone 8.

Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to decide which chipset it is going to use for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 handset. According to reports, the company has two options, which is its own Exynos 8895 chip or the latest Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm.

Stay tuned for more news and updates about the development and release of the new Samsung Galaxy S8.
