Pablo Escobar is officially out from "Narcos" season 3 as the notorious kingpin's story ended in the previous season. Netflix has recently released its first production photo, which only confirms that filming has started for the 2017-scheduled episodes. The official Twitter account of the Netflix series released a photo, which featured DEA Agent Javier Pena, played by Pedro Pascal.
In the photo, Pena is seen standing on a podium giving a press conference assumed to be related to the death of the druglord. The caption for the photo reads, "The blow must go on. Pablo might be dead but the war is not over. Season 3 of #Narcos has begun filming." Just last month, series producers have confirmed that "Narcos" will continue with season 3 and season 4, even without Wagner Moura's impressive portrayal of Escobar.

The recently released photo also confirmed that Pascal is back for "Narcos" season 3. However, fans have yet to know if Pena's partner, Steve Murphy, played by Boyd Holbrook, will be onboard for the upcoming season. In history, though, Murphy didn't stay long in Colombia after Escobar's death. The real-life agents have confirmed where they were after Escobar's demise: Murphy returned to the United States in June 1994 while Pena left Colombia in October 1994.
Season 2 ended up with an opening to the Cali cartel, a new drug group that emerged strong after Escobar. In the Netflix version, it was already hinted that Pena will return to take on the group, but both Murphy and Pena confirmed that neither of them got involved in taking down the cartel. Will Netflix take on a different path in this arc?
Fans can only wait and see what producers have in store for "Narcos" season 3. More details about the upcoming season are expected to be dropped soon as the new season has a pegged release date of 2017.
