Almost a week ago, Niantic released a new update for "Pokemon GO" that holds inspiration from the anime series. This time, instead of giving badges Niantic managed to give it a twist for "Pokemon GO" in the form of medals.

These medals are specified by the number of Pokemon of a certain type your "Pokemon GO" trainer has caught. For example, if your "Pokemon GO" trainer caught 10 Pokemon of the same type, you'll get a bronze medal, catch 50 and you will be rewarded with a silver medal and catching 200 Pokemon of the same type will land you a gold.

Those are the medals are to signify which Pokemon type it belongs for "Pokemon GO." It would also show what medal associates with the Pokemon type, if it's bronze, silver or gold.

In "Pokemon GO," sometimes there are Pokemon that belong to two types. When catching a Pokemon, if two medals are of different ranks, their catch rate bonus will be decided by its average.

Why Does The Medals Pop-up Once The Pokemon is Caught?

This happens randomly for every "Pokemon GO" player and it might signify that the new catch rate bonus had an effect or was applied to the Pokemon. Also, it might signify that the Pokemon could've ran away if the catch rate bonus didn't took effect.
