'Dead Island: Riptide' Says 'No' To The Wii U

Dead heads not of the Garcia variety will have to stick to "ZombieU" to get their brain munching fix.

Speaking with Digital Spy, "Dead Island: Riptide's" Creative Producer Alexander Toplansky says no to a Wii U port, because the team did not want to do a complete rebuild of the game's engine.

"The things that are required to bring something to a new platform, you need to either really get to be integrating it deep into the engine, or you've got to [do] a port. Neither one of those was a satisfactory outcome for us, so we decided to do what we got platform-wise and just make sure that we can deliver the best experience we can."

There goes another pass up for the new Nintendo console.

WIth the game set to release in just about a month's time, the news doesn't come as much of a surprise. But maybe Nintendo will get a taste of Deep Silver's zombie melee action in the future?

It's possible, but said Toplansky, "It's not something I would categorically rule out, but it's not something that's planned."
