‘Dark Souls 3’ Latest News & Update: Upcoming Poise Adjustments To Increase Effectiveness Of Heavy Armor, Weapons

"Dark Souls 3" will soon receive a major update that will fix game bugs and enhance poise values for effective defense moves. From Software has released its patch notes for a game update scheduled on Oct. 21, Friday.

From Software will deploy its latest patch to update "Dark Souls 3" to a version 1.08, according to the announcement posted on the game's Tumblr account. The said game patch contains a lengthy list of improvements, enhancements and bug fixes.

Some of the changes include improvements on regular attack animations and an enhanced "Neck Swipe" weapon move for scythe type weapons. Adjustments to the "Onislayer" weapon skill hitbox timings have been made, including the claw weapon skill "Leaping Slash."

Several "Dark Souls 3" game bugs were also addressed such as the glitch on strong attacks that would have dealt additional damage to opponents. Game developers have also fixed the bug that prevented dash attacks when using Farron Greatsword and more.

However, the most notable among the game's upcoming patch update would be the change on poise values across the board. The enhanced poise stats will improve the effectiveness of heavy armor and weapons.

Some gamers may consider the poise upgrade as a welcome and highly anticipated enhancement. The said feature has been a source of frustration for players where many claimed that From Software neglected to "turn it on." A high poise stat would have allowed a gamer's character to withstand strong attacks when a specific weapon or armor is equipped.

In an interview with Kotaku held in July, a Bandai Namco representative explained that the poise feature has been working as intended. The said spokesperson explained that changes made to the said feature made it "more situational" as compared to previous game titles.

Meanwhile, series director Hidetaka Miyazaki sent an apology email about the said issue addressed to the same publication. He wrote, "With how things are handled now, it can be improved and this is an agenda item we'll be working on in the future."

"Dark Souls 3" was released on March 2016, while its upcoming first paid expansion pack "Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel" will be available on Oct. 25 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Watch the trailer below:
