'Resident Evil 7' Release Date, News, & Update: Inventory Tetris Feature to Return to the Game? Other Features & Details Revealed

The much anticipated "Resident Evil 7" was said to diverge from the original form factor introduced in the earlier games of the franchise. However, a new teaser for the video game had just revealed another returning feature.

Returning Features

A report from PC Gamer had revealed that item boxes, shotguns, and the classic inventory Tetris from the series will be returning to "Resident Evil 7." It was shown in the second teaser video among a series of ten.

The inventory Tetris is an interesting feature, as it forces the players to fit the items in the catalogue with each other. If this is not possible, then the player must ditch them altogether. The report also claims that there are noticeably fewer blocks that are available in "Resident Evil 7" as compared to the previous installments. This means that strategic placing is key for every inventory.

Changes and Game Homage

"Resident Evil 7" will definitely be seeing a lot of major changes. Perhaps the most prominent among these is the shift to a first person perspective inside the gameplay. Aside from this, there are also a few minute details that should be duly noted. The Green Herbs would then be utilized for healing purposes.

IGN had earlier reported that the "Resident Evil 7" director Koushi Nakanishi had used the original game as a major inspiration for the game. Despite the changes, the upcoming installment would still feel and look cohesive with the rest of the games in the franchise. However, it will be incorporating fewer enemies, which are then a lot more dangerous.

'Resident Evil 7' Release Details

The demos for "Resident Evil 7" have already been released earlier. The "Beginning Hour" demo, however, takes place outside the main storyline of the core game. A new update then introduced a lot of alterations in the demo. This keeps the mystery around the details of the main "Resident Evil 7" game still intact, with very few details regarding the main plot being hinted to the public.

"Resident Evil 7" will be released next year, on January 24. It will be playable through PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC.
