'Bloodborne' News & Updates: Sony Wants To Release The Game For Smartphones Through PlayStation Mobile!

If you do a lot of gaming on your smartphone and find that the usual free games are either bland, repetitive, or just shallow, then you might be in luck soon. If Sony manages to get its way, it'll successfully resurrect its old PlayStation Mobile games division and release new titles for Android and iOS, including "Bloodborne."

Tech site Alphr reports that the company is planning to revitalize its mobile games division in the coming year, after Nintendo announced a new initiative to expand into mobile gaming thanks to the roaring success of "Pokemon Go." It announced "Super Mario Run" during Apple's announcement of the iPhone 7, and will also be releasing "Animal Crossing" and "Fire Emblem" titles for mobile. Sony will be doing the same, according to Japanese daily Nikkei, by developing mobile titles based on popular PlayStation franchises, like "Bloodborne."

Sony's PlayStation Mobile arm had already attempted to break into the smartphone gaming market last year by putting out games from the "Uncharted," "LittleBigPlanet," and "AllStars Battle Royale" in-house series. Those didn't really take off, so the company decided to cancel the whole department in March 2015. Now, it's starting to back up with their new studio, ForwardWorks, established in March this year for the specific purpose of developing mobile games for Sony. They're eyeing new games that aren't just ports of their best-selling series; not just "Bloodborne," but also "Uncharted" (again), "Killzone," and "Gran Turismo."

Nikkei reports that Sony plans to release at least five new smartphone titles by 2018, taking up the entire next year to develop them. It is not yet revealed what it would be and whether "Bloodborne" will be a part of that whole new batch of games. However, we'll soon find out by the end of 2017, but it would be first unveiled in Japan, so you're gonna have to sit tight until then.
