'Pokemon Go' News & Updates: Connection, Compatibility With 'Pokemon Sun & Moon' Still Being Developed?

"Pokemon Sun & Moon" is almost upon us, with the much-anticipated demo of the much-anticipated game already on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. However, with most players still playing and hoping the best for "Pokemon Go" on smartphones, one concerns and wishes that keeps popping up is whether the two different "Pokemon" games will ever be connected.

It was rumored some time ago that "Pokemon Go" and "Pokemon Sun & Moon" will be tied together gameplay-wise sooner or later, mostly through the "Pokemon Go" Plus device, according to Game Rant. GameSpot interviewed Nintendo and "Pokemon" developer and composer Junichi Masuda, who's also working on "Pokemon Sun & Moon." Masuda had the following to say about how the two games will play with each other. "First, we just want people to enjoy Sun and Moon after they come out, then we'll keep working on ideas to best accomplish that."

According to the Game Rant report, it was "Pokemon" creator Shigeru Miyamoto who first made the promise that "Pokemon Go" and "Pokemon Sun & Moon" will eventually end up connected to each other. However, he did not go into specifics as to how that was going to work, and it's also hard to imagine how the two games will interact, considering that they are fundamentally different. It's possible that you can catch Pokemon for "Pokemon Sun & Moon" while playing "Pokemon Go," but that will have to mean that "Pokemon Go" developer Niantic Labs will have to rush the sixth generation into the game. That would take a long, long time considering Generation 2 isn't even in, and all of Generation 1 isn't complete.

"Pokemon Sun & Moon" comes out next month for the Nintendo 3DS. Most of the world gets it on November 18, while Europe will get it on November 23. Completing the demo will give you an Ash-Greninja for your team in the main release.
