'Wonder Woman' Latest News and Updates: Photo Shared on Social Media. Details of the Upcoming Film

For superhero movie fans, "Wonder Woman" is one of the most awaited movies which will be released in cinemas on June 02, 2017. Fans of the franchise were thrilled when a recent photo of the heroine was shared on social media.

Actress Gal Gadot plays the role in a long-awaited standalone film. The Israeli beauty stands five feet and ten inches tall which is perfect for a strong and independent role like "Wonder Woman".

"I didn't want to do the obvious role that you see in Hollywood most of the time, which is the heartbroken girl who's waiting to be rescued by the guy, blah, blah, blah," Gal Gadot told Interview Magazine when asked what kind of role she was liked to play.

Yahoo! reported earlier that American filmmaker Zack Snyder posted a photo on his social media accounts showing "Wonder Woman" donned with her strong and sexy gear. Snyder is directing the upcoming film "Justice League", and "Wonder Woman" is one of the main characters.

"Wonder Woman" turns 75 this year and dubbed as the most famous female superhero in DC Comics. Recently, she was appointed as Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls by the United Nations which received both positive and negative feedbacks.

When asked if she sees the film as a big opportunity to advance how women are being portrayed on the screen, Gal Gadot replied, "Oh, my God, I'm so excited about this role. I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood."

Actress Lynda Carter also played the role of "Wonder Woman" series from 1975 to 1979.
