The game has remained elusive just like another Valve franchise, "Half-Life 3." It's been about seven years since the release of "Left 4 Dead 2" and it's obviously a long wait for the sequel.
Valve has remained quiet when it comes to "Left 4 Dead 3" that some fans started to accept that the franchise is over and that the third game is not happening. However, there are those that remained hopeful that the third installment will be released in the future, based on the recent leaks that have surfaced online.
One of the leaks involved Valve employee Tristan Reidford, who posted a screenshot of what was supposed to be instructions or a tutorial for Destinations Workshop tool. Fans were quick enough to spot a folder labeled "left4dead3" included in Reidford's documents and took it as a hint that the game is actually in development. Shortly after, the said image was taken down and replaced with a new one without the "Left 4 Dead 3" reference.
Others believe that "Left 4 Dead 3" is happening and is secretly in development following the report about Valve moving to a new office in 2017. Although it wasn't explicitly mentioned that plans for the game will be started, some fans like to think it's the case since Valve getting a bigger office space could mean that the company has more projects to work on - "Left 4 Dead 3" being one of them.
The hints that suggest "Left 4 Dead 3" is in development may be exciting for all fans of the franchise but it should be noted that none of them has been confirmed by Valve. Unless the game studio makes the official announcement, all reports should be taken with a grain of salt.
