After advancements with Virtual Reality technology, director of Quantic Dream, David Cage, announces that the VR gaming experience might come to one of the company's games. However, he specifies that it would still be experimental, unless he sees something unique, the approach will not be pursued. Nevertheless, in his recent statement, they are going all out in terms of testing and development especially on their title Heavy Rain.
Quantic Dream has produced a number of titles famously known for story-focused gameplay rather than multiplayer and competitive match making. This makes their work conducive for the virtual reality approach. David Cage, however, made it clear that despite the technology hitting a number of games in the market, they are not going to implement it just for the sake of it, reported by Gamespot. He says that they should bring something that has not been seen as yet.
David Cage describes that they have installed VR systems in their studio as they begin testing and development. A number of titles have been downloaded from various systems to determine what works and what doesn't. He says that unless they determine where people are right now, they cannot bring something new to the market, reports Games Industry.
The director has talked about how he was amazed of the experience when trying out virtual reality which gave him the inspiration to bring the technology to their titles. David Cage says that there is a connection between the player and the digital characters that would allow gamers to further understand and appreciate the emotions involved in the game. Despite the conceptualization, he is still unaware of where they are going to actually end up.
The company is not concentrating all their efforts in bringing the technology to a number of their existing games. They did not forget about their current market. A new PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human is bound to be released.
