'Gears of War 4' Release Date, News & Update: Checkout, Drydock Coalition's First Free DLC Maps Coming This November!
This month, fans were treated to the new "Gears of War 4" from Coalition. It's the fourth installment in the "Gears of War" series that launched in 2006. Now, fans are excitedly anticipating new material for the game. In fact, "Checkout" and "Drydock" are Coalition's first free DLC maps coming November 1.
IGN reports that the studio has unveiled "Checkout" and "Drydock" as the first free DLC maps for "Gears of War 4," which will arrive on November 1 to those lucky gamers who have a Season Pass. "Checkout" and "Drydock" are two "Gears of War 4" "Legacy Maps" that are finding their way back to "Gears of War 4."
As one of the two free DLC maps for "Gears of War 4," "Checkout" features Cole's hometown, set 25 years following "Gears of War 3." Players will find that the town is now deserted and seems like it's being eaten up by nature. One of the two free DLC maps for "Gears of War 4," "Checkout" will let players rummage through old stores and an open mall area, which may be familiar to some because it already appeared as a multiplayer map in "Gears of War 3."
The next of the two free DLC maps for "Gears of War" 4 is "Drydock," which according to Gamespot is actually a very old ship graveyard, featuring dilapidated vessels and old cargo container buildings. Like "Checkout," "Drydock" was also first introduced in "Gears of War 4," and is making a comeback in this year's third-person shooter video game from The Coalition. Both "Checkout and "Drydock" are set to land in your PC or console beginning November 1 for those who have the $50 Season Pass.
Those who do not have the "Gears of War 4" Season Pass, however, will have to wait until November 8 to get their hands on the "Checkout" and "Drydock" free DLC maps. Microsoft will also be releasing additional maps every month throughout the year, so fans can anticipate a total of 24 new maps to explore. "Gears of War 4" is playable on Xbox One and Windows PC.
