Nintendo 2DS White and Yellow Version Will Be Available in Japan; Details of the Launch

Nintendo gamers won't have to wait too long to own a white/yellow version of the handheld console as announced by the company, but it may not be available worldwide just yet.

Japan players would be the first lucky gamers who can have the newest version which is bundled with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 according to GameSpot. It is set to launch on Dec. 15 of this year in Japan and costs ¥11,980.

However, Nintendo is still silent whether it becomes available in other countries after its commencement in Japan. The company revealed that their sales of the Nintendo 2DS went through the roof of over 500 percent in August 2016 compared to August 2015.

It was launched in 2013 for $130 and was cut down in August 2015 to $100 and the price was again reduced to $80 that took effect in May 2016 could be the reason of this impressive sales increase according to Nintendo. They also cited the "Excitement for the Pokemon brand".

Nintendo 2DS, a version of the 3DS without the 3D display has a slate-like design as opposed to the hinged, clamshell design of its predecessors. It plays almost the complete library of Nintendo 3DS games without the 3D effect. Blue, Sea Green, Red, Crystal Blue, Crystal Red and more are the available colors for the 2DS console in the US.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi on Sept. 23, 1889. It's a Japanese multinational consumer electronics and software company and is one of the world's largest video game companies by net worth.

On March 17, 2015, Nintendo announced a partnership with Japanese mobile developer DeNA to produce games for smart devices and the first of these, Miitomo, was released in March 2016. On the same day, Nintendo announced a new "dedicated games platform with a brand new concept" with the codename "NX". The word Nintendo as translated in English means "leave luck to heaven".
