To treat fans of "Borderlands" while they wait for the coming of "Borderlands 3," Microsoft Store has offered "Borderlands: The Handsome Collection" for free. The deal was offered for Xbox One owners from Oct. 27 until today.

What makes up the Collection?

Included in the "Borderlands" collection is the "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel" and "Borderlands 2." The offering is said to be part of the company's "all access weekend where gamers can also play even without an Xbox Live subscription.

"Experience the absolute highest performance and highest fidelity graphics for any Borderlands game ever played on a video game console, Microsoft said in a statement. It added that this is the first time they offered a four-player split screen in high-definition.

Other great offers

Aside from this offering, Microsoft is also giving out more than $100 value of gameplay hours for its customers including level upgrades, campaign add-ons and character packs, among others. The event also coincided with the Borderlands event last Oct. 28 where producer James Lopez took questions from fans about the game.

Expected release date

This Borderlands deal already means a lot for fans of the game who are still waiting for the release of the "Borderlands 3" instalment. The game is expected to be released in 2018 though there is still no word from the development team about the definite launch.

Last April, Gearbox announced that "Borderlands 3" will be released. Though nothing is sure yet, fans are hoping that it could be released as early as next year.

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford also highlighted that they could change the name of the upcoming title. He claimed that the team behind the game is still not sure if they will indeed call it "Borderlands 3." Art director Scott Kester has also been confirmed to be part of the upcoming installment.
