iMac 2017 Release Date, News & Update: Kaby Lake processor & VR compatibility Major Reason For Delay? Specs & Features Revealed

If reports are to be believed, Apple iMac's release date may have been shifted to 2017 so that it gets the widely-discussed Intel Kaby lake processor. Many exciting features are also expected such as Thunderbolt 3 and VR compatibility.

Apple fans were left disappointed when Apple did not unveil the iMac in 2016. Even Macworld reported a US leak that showed the release to be imminent. However, experts believe the device will be out in the first quarter of 2017. While the common opinion is that the Apple iMac will sport the Kaby Lake chipset, there is a possibility that certain models will also feature the AMD Radeon Polaris graphics chips and it will be VR ready.

As major brands are looking to compete in the market with VR capability, Apple may also make its iMacs VR compatible. As per Tech Radar, Apple fans can expect decent VR experience as the Polaris 10 and 11 chipsets are capable of providing that.

Compared to many other chipsets in the market, the Polaris graphics chips provide better speeds and lower power consumption. Thus, the Apple iMac 2017 could be perfect for gamers as a combo of Intel Kaby Lake processor and Polaris chipset could help in raising the resolution significantly.

The iMac 2017 might start a trend as to the storage features. Fusion drives could be seen as the default storage in the new Apple iMacs. Flash storage may become the standard starting with the Apple iMac 2017. Flash storage improves read and write speeds significantly.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C ports are also expected in the iMac 2017. Even though the iMacs have been a popular product among Apple fans, they have not been given any major upgrade for some time. Hence, fans are eager to see an iMac release that will boast incredible specs and features.
