Facebook Looks To Charge $1 Million Per Video Ad

Facebook's ambitious plans for video ads may hit news feeds in just a few months. The 15-second auto-playing video ads on your Facebook news feed could cost advertisers as much as $1 million a day, according to Ad Age.

Although the company has yet to finalize the format of the video ads, it has already begun shopping the product around to agencies, looking to lock down commitments for the first available slots in June or July, the report states citing three unnamed executives.

Facebook looks at netting up to more than $4 million per day from the ads, the report says. The company is asking advertisers to shell out up to $1 million and snag one of four available "summer slots" targeting four large demographics of users such as: women over 30; women under 30; men over 30; and men over 30. "The ads will be capped at 15 seconds and frequency capped to ensure that no user sees more than three per day, with an asking price of upwards of $1 million," the report states.

The video player is rumored to expand beyond the main news-feed real estate to cover the right- and left-hand rails of users' screens on Facebook's desktop version. The social networking giant is believed to be working on a way to make video ads stand out on mobile apps as well.
